You’re ENGAGED! You said yes to the person you want to the spend the rest of your life with! But now what? Here’s the top 3 things you should do once you’re engaged!
1. Enjoy it!
Naturally you want to run out and purchase all the wedding magazines and dive right into planning. There’s the flowers, the centerpieces and oh my gosh, the dress! So much planning and details to think about and plan for your best day ever. But first, slow down. Take a deep breath and just enjoy being newly engaged. Have fun spreading the word. Get used to saying fiancee. Celebrate with family and friends and just be in the moment.
2. Make a List
Time to get busy and let the planning begin! But before jumping on Pinterest and start pinning all your ideas and inspiration, sit down with your partner and make a list. Talk about what your vision of your day looks like. Is it a small backyard ceremony and reception with your closest friends and family or maybe it’s a ballroom wedding with 300 people. Do you want a summer wedding or maybe you’ve always dreamed of a winter wonderland. Whatever your vision is, start writing down the things that mean the most to you and what you cannot live without. Maybe that’s a packed dance floor so a DJ or band may take priority. Maybe you ultimately want to remember each and every moment and detail so photography overrides everything else. Whatever it is, write it down so you and your fiancee can be on the same page and plan the wedding that is truly yours.
3. Secure Your Date & Vendors
Now that you have a clear vision of how and where you’d like your wedding, it’s time to select a date! I recommend choosing 3 possible dates. Having more than one possible date will serve as backup should your venue or ideal photographer already be booked. Vendors tend to book up a year out so be sure you reach other to your vendors sooner vs. later.
Now go enjoy being engaged while planning your best day ever!
