Minneapolis Institute of Art Proposal | Alex + Ilse

When Alex contacted me about his Minneapolis Institute of Art proposal, I was immediately thrilled. Proposals are one of my favorite moments to photograph. There’s something so magical about capturing the raw emotions of such a pivotal life event. That said, I always feel a little nervous before shooting a proposal—it’s such an important moment, and I want to get it just right!

The Minneapolis Institute of Art provided the perfect backdrop for Alex and Ilse’s engagement. Its timeless architecture and elegant ambiance made the moment feel extra special. Ilse looked absolutely stunning in her black dress, which had pockets (a total win!) and flowed beautifully when she twirled. It was the perfect choice for the occasion—sophisticated, fun, and effortlessly photogenic.

As Alex dropped to one knee and asked Ilse to marry him, her face lit up with surprise. The moment was so heartwarming, and I couldn’t help but smile behind my camera. Seeing their happiness and love for each other reminded me why I adore documenting proposals.

Afterward, we took some time to explore the Institute, capturing more photos of Alex and Ilse as they soaked in their newly engaged bliss. I’m so glad I got to be part of this special time in their lives and document such an incredible milestone.
